Earl has relied professionally on Helly Hansen since the early 1970’s, when he was a professional mountaineering instructor in Europe. Through all his expeditions to mountains, deserts and the Arctic, Earl has always used Helley Hansen products.

In 1986, during a 140 knot Arctic winter snowstorm, Helly Hansen literally saved his life, when he survived a week without food or shelter on a sea-swept rock.
