Earl has relied professionally on Helly Hansen since the early 1970’s, when he worked as a professional mountaineering instructor in Europe. Through all his expeditions to mountains, deserts and the Arctic, Earl has always used Helley Hansen products.

In 1986, Helly Hansen literally saved his life, when he survived a week without food or shelter on a sea-swept rock, during a 140 knot Arctic winter snowstorm.
